Nordic finishes strong in freestyle at NCAA Regionals

The Bates Nordic ski team enjoyed an outstanding final day of the carnival season on its home turf at Black Mountain, placing three athletes in the top 22 in the men’s 20K mass start freestyle race, and three more in the top 25 of the women’s 15K at the Bates Carnival and NCAA East Regional Championships.

Bates senior James LePage broke the oldest record in the men’s track and field team’s history on Friday night at Open New Englands at Boston University, running 800 meters in 1:51.59 to eclipse the former team mark of 1:51.74 set in 1930 by Russell “Ossie” Chapman ’31.
