Rowing teams open spring season on the Charles

The Bates rowing teams had their first official regatta of the spring season Saturday on the Charles River, where the women’s team swept four races from Simmons College while the men’s team competed well against MIT and Boston College.

Women’s track opens outdoor strong in Orono

The Bates women’s track and field team opened the outdoor season on Saturday with an impressive effort in a tri-meet at the University of Maine. The host Black Bears won the team scoring with 147 points, followed by New Hampshire with 136 and Bates with 112.

No. 7 nationally ranked Tufts proved to be an offensive juggernaut Saturday afternoon, belting six home runs and scoring 17 runs on 20 hits to win both games of a doubleheader, 8-4 and 9-0, against the Bates softball team.
