One of Bates’ awardees is making a return appearance from the 2012 Winter All-Sportsmanship Team: women’s basketball captain Taryn O’Connell (Georgetown, Mass.).
Bates’ representatives on the team are:
- Men’s Basketball: Mark Brust, Sr.; Duxbury, Mass.
- Women’s Basketball: Taryn O’Connell, Sr.; Georgetown, Mass.

- Women’s Squash: Alison Bragg, Sr.; Darien, Conn.
- Men’s Swimming and Diving: Nick Karlson, Sr., Wayland, Mass.
- Women’s Swimming and Diving: Tara Dugan, Sr.; Wilton, Conn.
The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes from each varsity sport who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to sportsmanship. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, and spectators. They display sportsmanship not only as a participant in their sport, but also as a spectator and in their everyday lives. Through their positive actions and example, these student athletes inspire others to adhere to the quality of sportsmanship that the NESCAC and the NCAA endorse.
