SAAC Mission Statement & Organization

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

Mission

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) promotes and maintains among the Bates College intercollegiate student-athletes good sportsmanship, academic excellence, and involvement in the campus and local community.  SAAC members represent all intercollegiate student-athletes and each varsity sport program at the College.  SAAC representatives meet directly with the Director of Athletics on a regular basis and through that interaction, positively impact the general administration of the athletics program to the benefit of the intercollegiate sports participants.

SAAC Organization

The SAAC is directed by two co-chairs, and to accomplish the work of the organization, the SAAC representatives are divided into three subcommittees as follows:

Academic Committee: Promote student-athlete academic accomplishments; provide guidance to help insure academic success; interface with the Faculty Liaison program.

School Spirit/Sportsmanship Committee: Promote the athletics programs to the campus community and beyond; improve school spirit and support for the sport teams; advocate for good sportsmanship.

Community Service Committee: Encourage and facilitate team opportunities to engage in community service and philanthropic endeavors.
