Women’s alpine third in slalom at St. Lawrence

Led by Avril Dunleavy’s fifth-place showing, the Bates women’s alpine team placed three skiers in the top 13 and four in the top 17, finishing third among 13 squads in the slalom races as the St. Lawrence Carnival concluded at Whiteface Mountain.

Women nipped in the end, men swim tough vs. Bowdoin

Outstanding swims were numerous, and senior diver Travis Joneshad a great final home meet, as the Bates swimming and diving teams played host to Bowdoin on Friday night at Tarbell Pool. The visiting Polar Bears prevailed in women’s team scoring by a mere 149-139 margin, while the Bowdoin men outscored Bates 177-121.

While injury problems with Nessrine Ariffin have been unfortunate for the Bates women’s squash team, senior captain Cheri-Ann Parris has responded extremely well in her return to the No. 1 position for the Bobcats, the spot in the lineup that she anchored in her first two years at Bates.
