Sports Medicine
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Sports Medicine Department is to provide the highest quality care possible to the student-athletes of Bates College. We will work in conjunction with our Team Physicians, the Bates College Health Center, and other Allied Health Professionals to make sure student-athletes are receiving the appropriate medical care necessary for them to participate safely in Athletics while at Bates.
Certified Athletic Trainers
There are four full-time Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC’s) that provide medical coverage to the student-athletes of Bates College. Each Athletic Trainer has graduated from a four-year accredited institution and passed the National Board of Certification Exam to practice as an Athletic Trainer. Additionally, each Athletic Trainer is licensed to practice in the State of Maine. Continuing education units are required of each Athletic Trainer to keep their national certification. Each ATC at Bates College is a member of both the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Maine Athletic Trainers’ Association.
