Bettles, Crampton play for doubles title at ITA regionals

Bates seniors Matt Bettles and Rob Crampton advanced to the championship doubles match of the USTA/ITA New England Men’s Tennis Tournament on Sunday, before bowing out in a classic 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 decision to Williams duo Matt Micheli and Trey Meyer.

Men’s tennis NCAA run ends in singles semis, doubles quarters

The Bates men’s tennis team finished play at the NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships on Friday, as junior Rob Crampton finished a 15-match win streak as a semifinalist in the singles tournament, and Crampton and junior Matt Bettles bowed out as doubles quarterfinalists.

Crampton, Bettles become two-time All-Americans at NCAAs

Bates junior Rob Crampton became the eighth All-American in Bates men’s tennis history, winning his first-round match in singles play on Thursday morning and winning again on Thursday afternoon in the Round of 16. He teamed up with Matt Bettles to also win in the Round of 16 in doubles play.

Bates College head tennis coach Paul Gastonguay was named Northeast Region Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year Monday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while assistant coach Greg Janssen earned Northeast Region Coach of the Year honors in both men’s and women’s tennis.
