No. 7 men’s track is tops in Division III at Open N.E.’s

The No. 7 nationally ranked Bates men’s track and field team scored points in the shot put, hepthathlon and 800 meters on Saturday to finish ninth among 32 point-scoring teams at the all-divisions Open New England Championships, and first among Division III teams.

LePage breaks 83-year-old team record in the 800

Bates senior James LePage broke the oldest record in the men’s track and field team’s history on Friday night at Open New Englands at Boston University, running 800 meters in 1:51.59 to eclipse the former team mark of 1:51.74 set in 1930 by Russell “Ossie” Chapman ’31.

Men’s T&F/XC finishes 4th in Program of the Year scoring

Pless takes third in discus at NCAAs; Wortham in steeple final

Bates junior David Pless placed third in the discus throw on Thursday evening, his first of three events at the three-day NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Fritz Burns Stadium at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Junior Andrew Wortham qualified for the finals in the 3,000 steeplechase.
