Pless leads Bates to third straight ECAC outdoor crown

The Bates College men’s track and field team won its third consecutive ECAC Division III Outdoor Championship on Friday, while senior David Pless launched the seventh-farthest shot put in Division III history and junior Jarret McKallagat established a team record as well in the 110-meter hurdles.

Women’s track sets ECAC, team records in 4×800 relay

Senior Bud Arens’ final race as a Bobcat was a great one. In the final event of the 2013 ECAC Division III Track & Field Championship, Arens and three teammates ran a meet- and team-record time of 9:10.28 in the 4×800-meter relay.

Monks split with baseball in 11-inning nightcap

Saint Joseph’s College broke a 0-0 game open with five runs in the top of the 11th inning to win the second game of a doubleheader against the Bates College baseball team, 5-0, on Wednesday at Leahey Field. The host Bobcats won the first game by a 4-1 score.

Host Tufts didn’t allow the Bates men’s track and field team to repeat as NESCAC champions, but the Bobcats neverthelesss had an outstanding meet, winning six events en route to a second-place finish Saturday at the NESCAC Track & Field Championships.
