Game Notes: Bates (3-3) at Bowdoin (1-5)

The annual meeting between Bates and Bowdoin, the 10th-oldest rivalry in college football, always means a great deal to both teams. But this Saturday’s game, set to kick off at 12:30 at Whittier Field in Brunswick, means a little bit more than usual to Bates.

Men’s cross country settles for 4th place at NESCACs

The No. 4 nationally ranked Bates men’s cross country team produced another strong performance but suffered its first disappointment of the season nonetheless, finishing fourth out of 11 teams at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday at Bowdoin. It is the first meet this season in which Bates hasn’t finished in first place.

Pyne, volleyball ace test at UMaine-Farmington

Murphy named Player of the Week by NESCAC, ECAC

The NESCAC has named John Murphy its Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, on the heels of the senior captain’s brilliant performance in the Bobcats’ 2-0 week. On Tuesday, Murphy additionally picked up ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Unbeaten Panthers top football, 38-23

Middlebury improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1992 with a 38-23 win over the Bates football team on Saturday in Middlebury, Vt. The Bobcats totaled 370 yards of offense and 22 first downs, but the Panther offense proved too much to handle.
