Latest NewsKinsman, Maxwell and O'Neill Earn All-NESCAC Honors 5/19/ 2004 LEWISTON, Maine – Bates College's Mike Kinsman, Nate Maxwell and John O'Neill all earned second-team spots on the 2004 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference Baseball Team. Kinsman '05 (Yarmouth, Maine) helped lead the Bobcats on the mound, going 4-1 with a team-best 3.40 ERA. He struck out 39 batters in 39.2 innings and walked just 18. Nate Maxwell '04 (Newport, Vt.) finished his career as the Bobcats' all-time hits leader with 135. Also the career record holder with 38 doubles, Maxwell had a .336 batting average and hit a career-high four home runs as a senior. The starting shortstop for four years, Maxwell helped turn 12 double plays this season. O'Neill '04 (Cumberland, R.I.) made up the other half of the left side of the infield for Bates, starting 24 games at third for the Bobcats. O'Neill had a .327 batting average with three home runs. He posted a .943 fielding percentage and had one of the best arms from third in the conference. Bates finished the 2004 season 13-18, 6-6 NESCAC East. The Bobcats defeated several opponents for the first time in recent memory, including winning two-of-three from NESCAC East rival Tufts. |
