On the Quad outside of Hathorn Hall is a peculiar maple tree (Acer platinoides ‘Schwedleri’).  This is an old cultivar of Norway maple, which gave rise to the maroon-leaved “Crimson King” maple.  This “Schwedler” maple is displaying both red and green leaves; new leaves emerge red and then turn green as they age.
