Advanced Placement Biology (AP) Credit Policy

Students with AP biology credit (scores of 4 or 5) may opt out of taking Biology 190 (formerly Bio 101 – the first required core biology course) only with permission of the current AY Bio 190 instructor of record, and an affirmation by the Chair of the Department of Biology. Students granted permission receive unassigned college credit. Note that this does not reduce the total number of biology courses required for the major.
