Bates CARE Collaborative (BCC)

Mission

The Bates CARE Collaborative (BCC) is a multidisciplinary team that provides coordinated, proactive, and person-centered support for students, faculty, and staff, who may be in distress and/or exhibiting concerning behaviors. Through evidence-based practices, BCC will identify, assess, intervene, and manage situations that may pose a barrier or threat to the safety and well-being of anyone in the Bates community.

Philosophy

The Bates CARE Collaborative will serve as a centralized referral source for students, faculty, staff, and families who may have a concern about someone in the Bates community. Centered in care, the BCC will provide educational resources and support to the campus community, specifically to prioritize early intervention and ongoing collaborative support.

Process

Through the use of an evidenced-based model from the National Association for Behavioral Threat Assessment (NABITA), the BCC will determine the appropriate course of action for every referral. Our goal is to respond to all referrals with swift assessment, tailored interventions, and appropriate management strategies to prevent further concern or potential harm.

People

The BCC is intentionally composed of individuals from key areas across campus who work collaboratively to create and maintain a safe and supportive campus environment for all.
