Wind Down Wednesdays

Wind Down Wednesdays
Sponsored by the Office of Campus Life

Wind Down Wednesdays are co-sponsored by the Office of Campus Life and by Bates student clubs and organizations. On certain Wednesday evenings (listed each semester) student groups may host a Wind Down Wednesday event in the Little Room in Chase Hall or the Underground in 280 College. The Office of Campus Life will provide a stipend to student groups to assist with event costs.

In addition, the Office of Campus Life independently sponsors several Wind Down Wednesday events per semester, open to all students on a first come, first serve basis with sign-ups in the Campus Life Office, Chase Hall 108.

Wind Down Wednesday Policies:

  • Wind Down Wednesday  (WDW) dates and locations are determined on a first come, first serve basis.
  • All clubs hosting a WDW will be eligible for up to $150 for the event.
  • Priority will be given to non-alcohol events as we try to sponsor one alcohol and one non-alcohol event per week.
  • All clubs hosting a WDW with alcohol must be able to cover $30 towards the event’s liquor license and will receive up to $170. They must designate a 21+ student to be liable for the event to meet with a staff member of the Office of Campus Life to complete the necessary Blue-Slip/ Party Registration and to review all Maine State Law and Bates College alcohol policies.
  • All events are free and open to all Bates students. Events with alcohol are staffed with additional security and are open to all students, unless noted; however, students under 21 are strictly prohibited from alcohol consumption.
  • All clubs are required to fill out the Event Sponsor Evaluation after the event in order to receive reimbursements.

In the Fall of 2009, the Office of Campus Life began the “Wind Down Wednesdays” program. The overall goal of the program was to encourage the use of alternative programming spaces on campus. Due to the success of the program, we will continue to offer this incentive to campus organizations.
