First Generation College Students

First Generation Resources

As the first in my family to go to college, I remember feeling really lucky to have the opportunity, but overwhelmed by being in a new place with a culture all its own. At first, I wasn’t really sure I belonged there, but after connecting with offices and student organizations around campus, I was at home. As a Purposeful Work staff member, I aim to support first-gen students in making connections that ensure their success after Bates and help them feel comfortable accessing resources to do that. You do not need to have a plan to meet with us – call 786 6232 to make your appointment.
