The Bates Career Development Center offers many opportunities throughout the year for students to visit a variety companies, graduate schools, and geographic locations to enhance students career exploration. These roadshows offer students the chance to meet with alumni and parents as well as experience companies first hand while learning about industry and career opportunities.

2017/2018 Science/Healthcare Roadshow (Boston): Over the course of two days students visited alumni in Boston to learn more about 4 companies: Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard, MGH, Biogen, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
2016/17 Cool Companies with Cool Jobs (NYC): Students spent two days visiting GLG, Dow Jones, Fuse Machines, Google, AskWonder.com, Conde Nast, Mic.com and Pinterest.
2016/17 Public Policy Roadshow Panel Discussion (Augusta): Students from Bates, Bowdoin and Colby spent the afternoon at the State House in Augusta learning about legislation, lobbying, and the executive branches of state government from alumni of the three colleges who hold key positions in Maine. Panel presentations included: Environmental Policy and Healthcare Policy.

2013/14 Tour for Diversity: The Tour for Diversity was a program to encourage underrepresented students who are interested in the health professions to inspire and cultivate their passions. Bates students attended presentations from doctors, an MD/PhD, a podiatrist in the navy, a dentist, etc. –none seemed to have it particularly easy but they have all made it. The speakers were motivational, inspirational and real.
