Veteran’s Day Candle Lighting Service
“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” -Arthur Ashe
The Multifaith Chaplaincy offers an annual quiet candle lighting service of gratitude and reflection on Veteran’s Day in Gomes Chapel. Everyone, of any spiritual or secular tradition, veterans, friends and family of veterans, and all are welcome to attend the service. This service is a small piece of a larger national moment of silence that is happening across the United States. We hope you can join us in Gomes Chapel for the service, but if you can’t we encourage you to observe 2 minutes of silence at 11 a.m. to remember and reflect on the veterans in your life. 2015 Reflections offered by Jay Phillips, Director of Facility Services and Operations and Jared Golden, Bates Alumni and Representative in the the Maine Legislature serving Lewiston.
