Information and Library Services has had to implement a change in service to support dial-in access to the Bates network. In order to meet the needs of faculty and staff who use this service for college related activities, we are contracting with Oxford Networks for modem access. This will continue to be a free service.
Access will still be on a first-come first served basis. It does not guarantee everyone immediate connection. The Bates community will be responsible for maintaining fair use of this shared limited resource. Those who do not have Lewiston/Auburn for a local calling will have a toll charge for connection time, if you do not live in the area or have an extended local calling plan.
ILS urges all dial-in users to be considerate of this limited resource to preserve it for all. We will be monitoring connection time to guard against excessive use.
