Dining Operations

We recognize that student’s schedules and dining preferences vary from day to day, therefore, we have structured a flexible schedule to accommodate all our students. With meals served throughout the day and bag lunches available for those not able to dine in Commons, a twenty meal plan with unlimited repeats is guaranteed to all the students on the meal plan.

New Commons

New Commons serves as home to the dining hall and miles, the Den and multiple dining rooms. Among other service rooms are Hirasawa, Skelton Lounge, Costello, Garcelon, Rowe Room and Peakes Room. This broad range of dining areas allows students to meet with friends and peers, faculty and organized groups in a comfortable setting.

Dining System

Each student on the meal plan gains access to Commons through swiping his/her Bates One-Card. Every student on the meal plan also has three bonus meals per semester per to be used for a guest of her/his choice. Those who have misplaced or lost their card must go to Security immediately to have their card replaced. Those not on the meal plan can eat at Commons by paying at the door.
