Associate Dean

Lane Hall, Room 120

Professor

Pettengill Hall,

Associate Dean

The responsibilities of the two associate deans vary depending on who occupies the position in any given year, but typically, each dean has responsibility for two of the divisions.  Key tasks include hiring temporary faculty and supporting departments and programs within the respective division, responding to curricular or course-related concerns (e.g., over or under-enrollment, cancelled courses, leaves), assisting with department and program reviews, meeting with students or parents who have concerns, and working closely with the appropriate division chairs.  The associate deans also attend Academic Affairs Council meetings.

Currently, Kathy Low is the associate dean for the sciences and social sciences.  Each associate dean also has a suite of additional responsibilities depending on skill and interest.  Currently, Kathy oversees assessment activities, faculty scholarship, research compliance, and accreditation, as well as serving as the Title IX coordinator for the faculty.  She also serves on CRC and works on new faculty orientation and programming.
