Description of Proposed Project: Please provide a description, not to exceed 1,500 words, that considers: a) the project’s primary goals and objectives; b) the specific DCS skills you expect to develop during the support period; c) the means by which you will develop these skills (e.g., on-line course you intend to enroll in, credentials of organization or individual who will assist with your training and frequency of training; d) expectations of assistance from professional staff at Bates, e.g., Imaging and Computing and/or Curricular and Research Computing; e) explanation of how students will play a direct role in the project or benefit from the training and skills you develop during the project; f) explanation of the specific ways your course(s) will change as a result of the knowledge and skills you develop during the grant period; (g) a timetable for the project indicating what work will be completed when; (h) a budget detailing major categories of expenses (e.g., travel, lodging and meal costs, tuition for a DCS-related course, software, cost for replacing a course); and (i) explanation of what type of support you require considering the following available options: (1) stipend, to be used in the summer or as part of a sabbatical leave, to facilitate course development/redesign; or (2) travel to an approved computer coding or digital technology short course that will facilitate course development/redesign; or (3) release from/replacement of a course so as to free-up your time during a semester to design/redesign a course.
