SLQ courses for the Class of 2011 and beyond

The faculty believes that every Bates graduate should possess a well-grounded comprehension of scientific reasoning (“S”); learn hands on the methods of scientific inquiry in laboratory or field settings (“L”); and develop the skills to understand, evaluate and effectively use quantitative data (“Q”). Each student beginning with members of the Class of 2011 takes at least three distinct courses that focus on scientific reasoning, laboratory experiences, and quantitative literacy: the “SLQ” requirements. More information on these requirements is outlined in the Frequently Asked Questions on the SLQ Requirements for students and faculty.
