Flagstaff/Bigelow I
Trip Description
Start off this trip hiking up Bigelow Mountain to The Horns and Avery Peak. Sleep well at a campsite right off the ridgeline and descend the next day via the Safford Brook trail until you reach Flagstaff Lake! Put in your canoes, enjoy a nice swim and paddle across this unique and vast lake. Explore the areas on shore and camp on islands you pass along the way.
*Flagstaff/Bigelow I & II share the same itinerary, but are run in opposite directions.
Caroline Daniels
Hello newly appointed Bobcats!! I’m Caroline ,a senior and environmental studies major from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I’m on the Nordic Ski team, I’m involved with a lot of environmental groups on campus and I’m an aspiring (though inexperienced) pastry chef. If asked, I’d say the Commons mug is solidly half full and that yes, I am an expert at adventures. Being from Minnesota, I’ve been in canoes since before I could walk but can easily count on one hand the number of times I’d seen a mountain before coming to Bates. Since freshman year I’ve been working hard to make up for lost time, peak baggin’ all over the east because it turns out mountains are awesome.
Jordan Cargill
My name is Jordan and I am indigenous to the White Mountains of New Hampsha. In the summers I spend my time hiking, biking, canoeing, climbing, and doing pretty much anything that gets me into the woods. During my woods ventures I have mastered the culinary art of camp stove cooking. You would not believe some of the amazing stuff that can be concocted with cheese, a meat stick, nutella, and some wheat-thins. During the other three seasons I migrate to Bates College where I study Geology. I’m real stoked to do some adventuring with the new Bobcat crop and share my love for the wilds of New England.
