Director of National Fellowships

Dr. Robert Strong
Director of National Fellowships
Lecturer in English
Coram 221A
(207) 755-5939

The fellowships director works one-on-one with student and alumni applicants in a process that mirrors the exchange professional scholars and writers undertake.  Applicants brainstorm possibilities, develop their ideas, and craft their writing with intensive feedback– from the graduate fellowship advisor, from faculty mentors, and from peers.

Robert Strong has many years of experience working with fellowship applicants.  He has served on Fulbright National Screening Committees and reviews fellowship applications for the American Antiquarian Society.  He has received fellowships for his creative and scholarly work from many institutions and foundations, including the Massachusetts Historical Society, the American Antiquarian Society, and the Edward Albee Foundation.  In addition to classes in the English department, Robert teaches an extra-disciplinary Short Term class in grant writing.
