Yellow Ribbon Program
Bates participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program for Veterans or Dependents of Veterans.
A provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program provides partial funding for veterans (and their spouses or dependents) to cover the cost of tuition at participating private colleges and universities. The Post 9/11 GI BIll federal funding formula allows for up to $17,500 per academic year for tuition and mandatory fees. The Yellow Ribbon Program then pays for tuition and mandatory fees in excess of $17,500 up to a maximum amount set by the institution per academic year.
Bates provides a matching school contribution of $12,750 for 10 students annually, and funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis determined by the date of receipt of all completed application requirements.
