2006: Started all 8 games at defensive tackle, tallying 24 tackles on the season…his 4.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks were good enough for 6th and 3rd on the team, respectively….Scooped up a fumble forced by Terence Ryan against Colby on Oct. 28th and scampered into the endzone, scoring his 5th career touchdown and 1st on the defensive side of the ball.
2005: Bates’ top two-way threat had two seven-tackle games (against Trinity and Tufts), and had career highs carrying the ball against Williams on Oct. 8, with 35 rushes for 110 yards and one touchdown. … Missed nearly half the season with a leg injury. … Totaled 190 yards rushing on 57 carries.
2004: Led the team in sacks and tackles for loss…averaged 3.6 yards per carry…scored three touchdowns.
2003: Played in all eight games as a rookie … spent the majority of the season as a backup defensive end, making seven tackles … played running back in two games for the Bobcats, averaging 5.6 yards per carry to total 145 yards on 26 carries … had 119 yards on 19 carries, including a career-long 39-yard run in a loss to Hamilton.
