2011: Named to the First Team All-NESCAC Defense team as a linebacker, becoming Bates’ first two-sport All-NESCAC athlete since Tom Beaton ’10 (baseball and football)…. Was the NESCAC’s top tackler…. Led the NESCAC in solo tackles with 65 (career high 92 total)…. Recorded 2.5 sacks for a total loss of 16 yards, two pass break ups…. Finished second in the league in tackles for a loss, with 12.5 for a loss of 49 yards

2010: Was credited with 80 total tackles, tying for first place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference with teammate Myles Walker and Wesleyan’s Cyprian Oyomba…. Helm’s 53 solo tackles led the conference…. Named NESCAC Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 14, sharing the award with Trinity senior Thomas Kilgore. During the Bobcats’ season-ending 28-18 win over Hamilton, Helm had a career-high 18 tackles (14 solo), including 2.5 tackles for a loss, to spearhead a Bates defense that limited Hamilton to negative rushing yardage as a team until its final possession. The Continentals finished with 20 yards on the ground on 37 attempts…. Made 8.5 tackles for a loss of 26 yards, including 2.0 sacks for 13 yards…. Also broke up five passes and recorded one quarterback hurry.

2009: Played in seven games on the year, starting the three at inside linebacker…. Recorded double-digit tackle totals in each of Bates’ final three games: 10 vs. Middlebury, 12 vs. Bowdoin and 11 at Hamilton…. Tied for fourth on the team with 43 tackles, including 21 solo…. Made two interceptions for 49 return yards, and also broke up three passes.

2008: Played in seven of the Bobcats’ eight games; originally listed at fullback and moved to linebacker…. Credited with two solo tackles on the season.

High School: A Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection and a two-time Quincy Patriot-Ledger South Shore League All-Star selection in football…. Also a Globe All-Scholastic and Patriot-Ledger SSL All-Star in lacrosse.

Other Bates Activities/Organizations: Captain of Bates men’s lacrosse team and a 2011 NESCAC All-Conference Second Team selection as a defender.
