Field of French and Francophone Studies

The field of French and Francophone studies allows students to explore a wide range of cultural practices and productions in their historical and geographic diversity. While focusing on the analysis of cultural representations through literature, cinema, political discourses and the media, research within the field of French and Francophone Studies encourages interdisciplinary approaches.

We recommend students who are conducting research projects and thesis in French to consult the international bibliography of the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the various search guides for French and Francophone studies available through Ladd library

Academic journals are often classified by historical periods, geographical areas, special topics or genres. Some journals like The French Review offer nonetheless articles on all aspects of French and Francophone Studies. This list reflects the journals faculty in FFS are consulting and is not exhaustive.
