- The Coastal Hazards class in the Netherlands.
- The Field Geology in Maine first-year seminar on the slopes of Mount Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
- Bates geology students spend a weekend in Acadia National Park every November.
- Sediment cores being taken on the Loch of Broo where sediment core dating was done to correlate weather changes to the changes in the House of Broo.
- An archaeological dig where geologists, anthropologists, historians, and biologists are discovering the story of the The Old House of Broo in Shetland. A project funded by the NSF.
