Tim Cook is a visiting assistant professor at Bates College for the 2010-2011 academic year. He teaches Sedimentary Processes and Environments; Coastal & Estuarine Processes; and Earth Surface Environments and Environmental Change. Tim’s research interests are focused broadly on understanding the processes that govern interactions between the climate system, the hydrosphere, earth’s surface and the sedimentary record. He investigates how both natural and human changes in the Earth system influences modern sedimentary processes and applies these findings to studies of long-term climate and environmental change. His research interests have involved field work in both coastal marine and freshwater lake and river environments in locations ranging from the High Arctic to the tropical Pacific.
Tim received an Sc.B. in Geological Sciences from Brown University (2001), an MS. in Oceanography from the University of Delaware (2004), and Ph.D. in Geosciences from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2009).
