Assistant in Instruction

Carnegie Science Hall, Room 206

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEGL Lab Manager Phil Dostie:

I manage the environmental geo chemistry lab, repair and maintain instrumentation for various departments and assist in building new gear for assorted project across the geology department. Truly the best part about working in the EGL is helping students with their thesis research.   From monitoring anadromous fish and their influence on local lakes to well monitoring and marsh coring Bates-Morse Mtn conservation area to coring various Maine lakes in the winter, research work is the fascinating and exciting part of my day.  When not at work I’m a proud father and outdoor enthusiast. I love trail running with my Labrador Retriever, Quint, gardening and landscaping/hardscaping, grafting fruit trees, collecting native Maine apple tree varieties and building/remolding projects for friends and family. I’m an avid Do-It-Yourself-er.  If you have some time, stop by Carnegie 206 and say “Hi”, chances are we’re doing something interesting in the lab.
