Latest NewsBates Golfers Finish 25th at NEIGA Championship 10/21/ 2003 BREWSTER, Mass. – The Bates College golf team finished the 2003 season with a 25th-place finish at the 45-team New England Intercollegiate Golf Association championship in Brewster, Mass., on Tuesday afternoon. The Bobcats were ninth among Division III schools, and second among NESCAC institutions. Dom Lee '04 (Silver Springs, Md.) led Bates, shooting 163 over the two-day tournament to finish tied for 52nd. Lee moved up 30 spots with his 80 in the second round, which was tied for 30th on the day. Sam Haaz '06 (Flourtown, Pa.) finished tied for 94th at 169, while Andy Kadin '04 (Short Hills, N.J.) was just one shot back, tied for 99th. Danny Dodson '05 (Evergreen, Colo.) was tied for 180th with a 183, and Nate Purinton '06 (Toledo, Ohio) finished tied for 209th at 195. Bates finished tied for 10th as a team with 12 birdies in the tournament. The University of Rhode Island won the tournament with 610 strokes, five ahead of Central Connecticut State University. Bates finished with 679 strokes. Amherst was the top NESCAC school in the team standings, finishing tied for 10th. Middlebury was the third NESCAC school, finishing three strokes behind Bates in 26th place. |
