2014 Fall Grants Events for Faculty and Students

Thursday, September 18th  Noon-1:00 p.m., New Commons, Room 211: NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program. For students (especially juniors and seniors) planning for graduate school in math, natural sciences, engineering or the social sciences. Speakers: Benjamin Moodie, Sociology (NSF GRFP recipient); Ann Marie Russell, Director of Institutional Research (NSF GRFP recipient); Robert Strong, Director of Graduate Fellowships; Karen Daigler, Senior Associate Director for Graduate and Professional School Advising, BCDC; Joseph Tomaras, Associate Director, Office for External Grants.

Students please feel free to bring your lunch up from Commons. Faculty or staff wishing to attend should RSVP to jtomaras@bates.edu and charge their lunch to External Grants.

Tuesday, October 7th  Noon-1:00 p.m., New Commons, Room 201: Introduction to the National Endowment for the Humanities and Other Sources of Support for Humanistic Scholarship. For faculty in the humanities and “humanistic” social sciences. Speaker: Joseph Tomaras, Office for External Grants.

Monday, October 20th 4:15-5:30 p.m., Pettengill Hall, Room G50: Panel Discussion: NSF-RUI and NIH-AREA Grants: Writing Impact Statements to Enhance Competitiveness. For faculty in the sciences and social sciences. Speakers: Rachel Austin, Chemistry (current PI of NSF-RUI and NIH-AREA grants); Amy Douglass, Psychology (PI of former and pending NSF-RUI grants); Joseph Tomaras, External Grants.
