I’ve changed my Bates Network Password, and I can no longer print from my Mac.

If you have changed your Bates Network Password, and can no longer print from your Mac Computer, you will need to update your password in your Mac Keychain manually. 

Access your Print Queue –

  • Click on the Apple menu
  • Click on System Preferencesfrom the drop-down menu
  • In the System Preferences window, double-click on the Printers & Scanners icon
  • In the left margin of the Printers & Scanners window, find the printer you are attempting to print to, it may be in a Paused state
    • Double-click on the Paused printer

  • Below the name of your print job, you should see the status: Hold for Authentication
  • To the right of your print job, you will see two buttons, one to delete the print job and the other to refresh
    • Click on the Refresh button
    • This will cause a window to popup requesting your Username and Password
      • (See Note Below)

  • Enter your new password 
  • Place a checkmark in the checkbox next to Remember this password in my keychain
  • Click on the OK button
    • If your printer is paused, you may need to click on the Resume button

Note: If a popup window does not appear so you can update your password, you may need to access your Mac Keychain and delete the printer entry from the saved passwords list. Please follow the steps below to access your Mac Keychain.

Accessing your Mac Keychain –

  • Access your Applications Folder
  • Double-click on the Utilities Folder
  • Double-click on the Keychain Access application
  • In the left margin, under the Keychains group, click on login
  • In the left margin, under the Category group, click on Passwords
  • Under the list of Passwords, find the printer that is no longer printing
    • Example: HUDSON-Pgill-123-A

  • Click on the printer to select it, and delete the printer
    • You will receive a prompt confirming the deletion, click on the Delete button

  • Close the Keychain Access window
  • Return to the print queue and click on the Resume button to restart the printer queue

Note: If the above steps do not resolve your printing issue, you may need to delete and reinstall the printer.

Deleting a Printer –

  • Click on the Apple menu
  • Click on System Preferencesfrom the drop-down menu
  • In the System Preferences window, double-click on the Printers & Scanners icon
  • In the left margin of the Printers & Scanners window, find the printer you want to delete
    • Click on the printer to be deleted to select it
    • At the bottom of the left margin, click on the "-" to delete the printer from the printer list
    • A confirmation window will popup, click on Delete Printer button

  • Below the name of your print job, you should see the status: Hold for Authentication
