Being part of the Residence Life Staff at Bates puts you at the center of an important part of the college experience. Members of our staff have considerable influence within their residences in shaping the community’s climate. In each available staff position, there is the opportunity to guide building programming opportunities that allow residents to participate actively in their residence in an engaged and meaningful way.
Junior Advisors work with their individual First Year Centers and among First Year residents to introduce incoming students to the positive aspects of residence life at Bates. JAs serve as mentors for their residents as they begin the process of becoming part of the broader academic and social Bates community.
Residence Coordinator Team Leaders are experienced Residence Life staff members that work in an advisory and support capacity with Junior Advisors and within First Year buildings to assist in building a positive First Year living experience for their residents.
Residence Coordinators work within upper-class buildings and houses to promote and maintain the actively engaged and positive residential experiences of our upper-class students. RCs offer a variety of residence-specific programming for the students in their building.
