Banking Services

All students and employees who wish to participate may now receive the following personal banking services from TD Bank:

• A regular statement savings account with the following features:
  • electronic deposit of Bates College pay checks
  • electronic access to the funds through TD Bank’s ATM / debit card
  • electronic access to the funds through the BatesCard
  • electronic transfer of funds, limited to six per month

• A regular checking account with the following features:
  • electronic deposit of Bates College pay checks
  • electronic transfer of funds
  • no service charges
  • no minimum balance requirements
  • MoneyLine overdraft protection, subject to credit approval
  • electronic access to the funds through the BatesCard
  • electronic access to the funds through TD Bank debit card
  • the first order of Trial 50 checks free of charge
  • reduced closing costs for mortgage loans
  • no closing costs for home equity loans, except for unusual title problems
  • savings on installment loan rates, if payments are deducted from account
  • free regular travelers checks at any TD Bank branch

In addition, every full time employee may also receive a TD Bank Signature Banking Account with the following additional features:

• preferred interest rates on savings and checking accounts
• preferred interest rates for certificate of deposit
• a credit card with no annual fee when you qualify
• preapproved MoneyLine overdraft protection
• savings on installment loan rates, if payments are deducted from account

A TD Bank automatic teller machine (ATM) is located in Chase Hall. Students and employees may use their BatesCard, if activated by the TD Bank, to serve as their access card to their accounts with the Bank.

Bank cardholders may deposit checks in their accounts and to access cash electronically from their accounts through the ATM in Chase Hall. If employees or students have a TD Bank account, they may use their BatesCard at all TD Bank ATMs with no service charge. The TD Bank ATM will accept access cards from other banks, but the transactions will incur a service charge of $1.00 plus any ATM fee charged by the cardholder’s bank.

Bates College employees and students may inquire about the banking services that are available to them through TD Bank. Students and employees may call the toll free number 1-888-BANK101 (1- 888-226-5101) to reach a bank representative who knows the banking services offered to Bates students and employees, or they may elect to visit with a bank representative at the TD Bank branch in Great Falls Plaza in Auburn.

A payroll specialist in Human Resources will assist students and employees in arranging for direct deposit of their pay checks. Direct deposits may be routed to TD Bank or to any other bank that is selected.

The members of the Financial Office believe that the banking services described are a significant improvement in the quality of banking services available to students and employees. They invite other students and employees to discuss any comments or concerns so that they may continue to improve banking services.
