Guest Account Types

These accounts can be requested for people who are visiting campus and are affiliated with the College in some way. The Garnet Gateway request form can be found by logging into the Garnet Gateway, clicking on the Employee Menu tab at the top and selecting the option Request Network Access link towards the bottom of the page.

Wireless Network Access (Basic)
- Limited to Wireless access only.
- Internet access is limited to web browser activity only.  (This includes mobile devices that do not have cellular service).
- No AntiVirus software required.
- Bradford Persistent Agent not installed.
- Enables only 1 device. This includes laptops and mobile devices.
- Printing is only available in the Library using a Guest card.
- Connect to BatesGuest wireless and select the Guest login.
- Requested through the Garnet Gateway. Setup by Help Desk Services.
- Limited to 50 users for the entire campus.
- Turnaround time: Same Day.
- Password is sent to individual user.

Wireless Network Access (Full)
- Limited to Wireless access only.
- Full internet access is available.
- AntiVirus software is required. Mac computers may not have AntiVirus software installed. Bates does not provide AntiVirus software for Guests.
- Bradford Dissolvable Agent will need to run but is not an installed program.
- Enables only 1 device. This includes laptops and mobile devices.
- Printing is only available in the Library using a Guest card.
- Connect to BatesGuest wireless and select the Guest login.
- Requested through the Garnet Gateway. Setup by Help Desk Services.
- Limited to 50 users for the entire campus.
- Turnaround time: Same Day.
- Password is sent to individual user.

Full Network Account
- Wireless and campus computer access.
- Full internet access is available.
- Antivirus software is required for personal computers.
- The Bradford Persistent Agent will need to be installed on personal computers. The user will need to uninstall the software after they leave.
- Enables unlimited devices.
- Printing is available. Special software may need to be installed for personal computers.
- Connect to BatesGuest wireless and select the Bates User login.
- Requested through the Garnet Gateway. Approval by Andrew White or Gene Wiemers required. (For large groups, please contact Help Desk Services).
- Turnaround time: up to 72 hours.
- Password will need to be issued in person at Help Desk Services in Ladd Library.

Bates Events
- Limited to Wireless access only.
- Internet access is limited to web browser activity only. (This includes mobile devices that do not have cellular service).
- No AntiVirus software required.
- Bradford Persistent Agent not installed.
- Printing is only available in the Library using a Guest card.
- Connect to BatesGuest wireless and select the Bates Events login.
- Only used for campus wide events. Credentials are issued through the sponsoring Bates department.
