Ask the Expert Series – All About Google Docs, Focus on Documents
Friday, July 12, 2013 – 1:00pm to 2:00pm – Ladd Library, RM 148
In this introductory seminar participants will have an opportunity to learn about the Documents component of Google Docs. Participants will learn about the user interface, creating new documents, sharing documents, formatting documents, adding tables and comments, and some advanced features will also be discussed.

Special Topics in Google – Bates Gmail/Google Calendar Basics for New Employees

This hands-on workshop is designed for individuals who are new to Bates College or individuals who have not attended a Bates Gmail/Google Calendar Basics workshop and would like to gain additional knowledge about Bates Gmail and Google Calendar.   • Learn why Gmail is different from other email applications
  • Learn and practice composing, sending, replying, and forwarding messages
  • Including, viewing, and downloading attachments
  • A basic understanding of labels, searching for messages, and creating filters will also be provided

Google Calendar –

  • Learn the basics of creating events
  • How to invite guests 
  • Respond to event requests 
  • Share and create calendars
  • Manage notifications

Webinar Wednesday’s – Microsoft Word 2010 Mail Merge Review
Wednesday, July 31, 2013 – 10:15am to 10:45am – Virtual Online Webinar
If you haven’t created a mail merge in Microsoft Word 2010 for a while, or you would like a quick refresher on the mail merge process, consider joining this webinar. In 30 minutes or less you will be provided with an overview of the mail merge process (setting up the main document, selecting an existing data source, inserting merge fields, previewing and completing the merge process).

Ask the Expert Series – Banner Overview/Navigation
Friday, August 9, 2013 – 1:00pm to 2:00pm – Hedge Hall, RM G18
In this seminar the question “What is Banner?” will be answered. You will learn about the Ellucian Banner Administrative System, how Banner interacts with other systems, how to access Banner, the components that make up the Banner Suite, Banner Forms, and how to navigate Banner through its menu’s, keyboard shortcuts, and Direct Access/Go To dialogue box. The basics of searching will also be covered.

Bates VoiceMail Manager is an Internet browser application that allows you access and manage your voicemail box from any Internet connected computer. During this introductory hands-on workshop, participants will be provided with an interface overview of Bates VoiceMail Manager, learn how to access Bates VoiceMail Manager, manage voicemail messages, and setup some of the common options that are available to you.
Prerequisites: Before attending this workshop, participants MUST login to Bates VoiceMail and initialize their voicemail box. Listen to the prompts to setup your voicemail box.

Webinar Wednesday’s – Microsoft Word 2010 Creating an Organization Chart with SmartArt
Wednesday, August 28, 2013 – 10:15am to 10:45am – Virtual Online Webinar
By using SmartArt in Microsoft Word 2010 you can easily illustrate the reporting relationships in your department through the use of a SmartArt graphic that uses the organization chart layout. In 30 minutes or less you will learn how to create an organization chart in Microsoft Word 2010 and how to enhance the organization chart by adding pictures.
