  • Network Down Half-Day, February 15, 2014Greetings, Information and Library Services will be conducting a Network Down Half-Day on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 6:00 am - 12:00 noon. We will be performing maintenance on some of our back-end infrastructure. The following Services will NOT be affected by the maintenance and will available all day. - Banner - Garnet Gateway - Document Management - VPN - The Bates web site Services that WILL be down during this time. - On campus wireless - Digital Media Studio storage - Voice Mail All other services not listed may experience brief interruptions during maintenance but are not anticipated to remain down for long.   • Telephone Service Interruption, Tuesday, November 26 at 5:00 pmGreetings Folks, Sorry about the late notice but there will be a brief shutdown of the campus telephone system in order to install a software patch today, Tuesday, November 26 at 5:00 pm. ** There will be NO campus-wide telephone service during this time. ** Work will begin promptly at 5pm, and is anticipated to be completed within 30 minutes.   • New Voicemail Launch InformationGood Morning, At 7:00 am, Information and Library Services launched the new campus voicemail system. Some of the new features include... - The ability to interact with your voicemail using a web browser (http://voicemail.bates.edu) - Email notifications of new voicemail messages. - The ability to send voicemail messages to multiple people. - Easily record and manage your out-of-office greeting. To access your voicemail box... - dial 6789 or 207-777-6789 from off campus. - Enter your security code. (If you are setting up your voicemail box for the first time, the default code is 22837.) - The menu system is almost identical to the previous voicemail system. A complete list of menu options is available at http://www.bates.edu/ils/files/2013/08/Voicemail-quick-reference.pdf. To access previous voicemail messages and messages that may have arrived before 7 am this morning... - Dial 6104 or 207-786-6104 from off campus. - At the greeting, press #. - Enter your extension number. - Enter your Old security code. You will now receive an email notification whenever a new voicemail message is left for you. You can call into voicemail to review your message (6789) or use the new web based VoiceMail Manager (http://voicemail.bates.edu) to listen to your message. The web based VoiceMail Manager is not compatible with mobile phones and tablets.   • REMINDER: New Voicemail Launch, Thursday, August 22This is a reminder that on Thursday, August 22, at 7:00 am Information and Library Services will launch an upgrade to our voicemail system. Current security codes, recorded name, greeting and saved messages will not be migrating into the new system. To make life easier for you tomorrow setup your new security code and record your new greeting today by following the instructions below. 1) Dial x6104 from on campus or 207-786-6104 from off campus. 2) You will hear 4 rings. 3) You will be prompted to enter your extension number and enter the default security code 22837. 4) Follow the prompts to setup your security code, recorded name and greeting. The new security code will need to be between 5 and 15 digits long. After the upgrade tomorrow, you will still be able to setup your new voicemail box and access saved and new voicemail messages that may still be in the old system. To help reduce some potential confusion instructions on how to do this will be sent out first thing tomorrow morning. The voicemail system will require you to setup a new PIN, between 5 and 15 digits long, record a new name and new greeting. You can setup your new voicemail box before the August 22 launch using the following instructions. 1)   Dial x6104 from on campus or 207-786-6104 from off campus. 2)   You will hear 4 rings. 3)   Enter your extension number and use the default security code 22837. 4)   Follow the prompts to setup your PIN, recorded name and greeting. Remember that the new PIN will need to be between 5 and 15 digits long. More information about the features of the new voicemail system and training will be announced soon.   • Turning Off BatesSecure Wireless On Wednesday, August 7, 2013Greetings Bates Community, On Wednesday, August 7th, Information and Library Services will be turning off the "BatesSecure" wireless network. All Bates users should be connecting their devices, both work and personal, to the "Bates" wireless network. The case sensitive password for the "Bates" network is Bobcat1855 All guests of the College should be connecting to the "Bates Visitor" wireless network. Please check your computers and devices to make sure they are connected to the appropriate wireless network.
