Information Especially for ...International & Overseas Students Bates Multicultural CenterThe Bates College Multicultural Center, opened in 1994, provides meeting rooms, social space, and offices for Amandla! (an African-American association), the American-Indian Awareness Organization, Women of Color, the Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual Alliance, Women's Action Coalition, International Club, Jewish Cultural Community, Sangai Asia, and Solidaridad Latina. The Multicultural Center sponsors exhibits, theater, lectures, workshops, meetings, and forums in the Center and in other locations across campus. Czerny Brasuell, the coordinator of multicultural affairs, organizes the Center and assists with programs that stimulate discussions relevant to multiculturalism throughout the campus. Bates College International ClubThe International Club promotes cross-cultural awareness and understanding on the Bates campus through a variety of activities, including the annual International Dinner - featuring foods from around the world - and the International Festival. The International Club serves primarily as a support group for international students at the College. This group is open to all members of the Bates community, and non-international students are encouraged to participate in the Club's activities. |
