Joining Your Windows XP Computer to the Network (Students)

Joining the BCIS workgroup allows access to network printing and network file storage (PARIS).
In Windows XP Home and Professional you can view your start menu in two different ways:
A. In Classic view:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Control Panel
4. Double click on the System icon

B. In XP Default view:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Control Panel
3. In Category View, click on Performance and Maintenance
4. Under pick a control panel, click on the System icon

In the C. System Properties window:

1. Click on the Computer Name tab on the top
2. Computer description: Bates User ID
3. Click on the Change button, next to where it says To rename this computer ot join a domain, click change

In the D. Computer Name Changes window:

1. Select Workgroup under the Member of section select Workgroup,
2. Enter BCIS and click on OK
3. Click OK on the pop up Welcome Message
4. Click OK on the System Properties window
