Peer Writing Assistants – Who We Are
Who are we? The 2011-12 cohort of more than 50 Peer Writing Assistants reflects Bates in all its vitality and variety
We play in Jazz Band, Chase the Fiddlers, and Orchestra, sing with Crosstones, Merimanders, and Northfield, and host on WRBC. You can find us center stage in theater and dance performances and behind the scenes directing, choreographing, designing lighting and sound, building sets, and running the box office. Our group includes JAs and RCs, Bonner Leaders, AESOP trip leaders, Dana Scholars, Volunteer Fellows, EMTs, Admissions Fellows, TAs, Peer Science Leaders, and HelpDesk and Math Workshop staff.
We’re out in the community with Habitat and at Hillview and Trinity. We write for the Student and for Seed, and are members of the Authors Guild and the Arts House. We’re active in Outing Club, Bates Buddies, OutFront, Film Board, Brooks Quimby Debate, Hillel, Robinson Players, Helicase, the Women’s Resource Center, Sangai Asia, Bates Student Government, Photo Club, and the International Club, among many other groups. We major and minor in virtually every academic discipline and speak ten languages besides English. We teach yoga, competitively ski, fence, run, and sail, and we play varsity lacrosse, soccer, and softball, as well as hockey, rugby, and Ultimate, and we direct and play a host of IM sports.
You can even find some of us representing the College – and Peer Writing – on the small screen: Picture-Perfect Bates Moments
