2008-2009: Champion along with doubles partner Amrit Rupasinghe, of the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Doubles Championship, where they defeated Bowdoin doubles team, Jamie Neely and Oscar Pena in the finals (6-4, 5-7, 6-4). This was the second NCAA tennis crown overall (Will Boe-Wiegaard won the singles title in 2006) for Bates…. Along with winning the NCAA Doubles Championship, Stein was also a finalist in the NCAA singles Championship, where he was defeated by Emory University’s Michael Goodwin, 7-5, 5-7, 6-1, and was the third Bates player to reach an NCAA Men’s final…. Named to All-NESCAC Honors for the second year in a row for doubles and third year for singles; earning First Team honors for doubles with partner Amrit Rupasinghe, and First Team honors for singles…. Stein and Rupasinghe also won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association New England Championships earlier that year in late September of 2008, defeating Bowdoin pair Stephen Sullivan and Alex White. Their win at the ITA New England Championships earned them a bid and a number two seed in the ITA National Small College Championship in October, where the two finished in fourth place after being defeated by Washington University’s Charlie Cutler and Chris Hoeland 7-6(2), 6-4.

2008: Co-captain…Doubles semifinalist in NCAA Division III Championships, along with teammate, Amrit Rupasinghe…. Named to Second Team All-NESCAC as both a singles player and as a doubles team player, along with Rupasinghe…. Stein and Rupasinghe teamed up to go 20-9 as Bates’ top doubles pair this year, achieving a No. 3 ranking in the Northeast, as determined by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association…. Stein assembled a 17-9 record in singles this year and is currently the No. 7 ranked singles player in the Northeast…. Bates went 9-0 against Babson in February; Stein and Amrit Rupasinghe had an 8-2 victory at first doubles over Beavers Walt Sea and Ben Edick and Stein defeated Alex Kamergorodsky 6-3, 6-2 at first singles…. In an 8-1 Bates victory over MIT in March, Stein won at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Amrit Rupasinghe to win at No. 1 singles…. Named team captain for 2008-09 season…. Stein contributed to Bates’ 9-0 shutout over Brandeis in March as he won at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Amrit Rupasinghe to defeat Brandeis’s Simon Miller and Scott Schulman in a hotly contested No. 1 doubles matchup, 9-8 (7)…. Against Colby in March, paced the Bobcats with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bryan Brown at No. 1 singles and an 8-2 win with sophomore Amrit Rupasinghe at No. 1 doubles.

2007: Named to the All-NESCAC Men’s Tennis Second Team in singles…. Moved from playing No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles as a first-year student to playing either No. 1 or No. 2 singles, plus No. 1 doubles, all year. At singles, Stein amassed a dual-match record of 11-2.
