Men’s T&F/XC finishes 4th in Program of the Year scoring

The Bates men’s track and field and cross country teams finished fourth in the scoring for the the 2012 USTFCCCA Program of the Year award, given to the institution that had the best combined team finishes in each of the NCAA’s cross country/track & field sports in a given academic year.

Bates junior Andrew Wortham has been named to the 2012 CoSIDA/Capital One Division III Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Track/Cross Country Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

Pless finishes fourth in shot put for sixth All-America honor

Bates junior David Pless (Atlanta, Ga.) won his sixth career All-America honor on Saturday, and the second of the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, by placing fourth in the shot put.

Pless takes third in discus at NCAAs; Wortham in steeple final

Bates junior David Pless placed third in the discus throw on Thursday evening, his first of three events at the three-day NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Fritz Burns Stadium at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Junior Andrew Wortham qualified for the finals in the 3,000 steeplechase.

Men’s track claims third straight ECAC crown

The Bates College men’s track and field team won its third consecutive ECAC Division III championship — two outdoor, one indoor — on Friday at RPI, as David Pless maintained an unblemished record against Division III competition this season and David Hardison won the decathlon.

Pless leads men’s track with 16 points at Open New Englands

Bates junior David Pless finished second in both the shot put and the discus throw, propelling the Bobcat men’s track and field team on Saturday at the all-divisions Open New Englands at MIT. Bates scored 25 points, tying with Middlebury for 10th place among 38 scoring teams.
