John Miley

2007-2008:
Indoor Track: Co-captain…. All-New England and All-ECAC honors in the pentathlon…. Holds the school record in the pentathlon, having broken Joe Northup’s ’05 school record at the Bates Pentathlon in December with 3,472 point, which was 91 points better than Northrup’s 3,381.
Outdoor Track: Co-captain…. All-New England and All-ECAC honors in the decathlon…. Threw 43.03 meters in the javelin at NESCAC Championships…. Bates Scholar Athlete Award recipient.
2006-2007:
Indoor Track Season: Miley earned finishing second in the pentathlon with 3,364 points at the New England Championships, 17 points shy of the Bates record…His time of 2:44.54 in the 1,000-meter run was the best in the field and earned him 824 points…Miley also finished in second in the pentathalon at ECACs totaling 3,312 points.
Outdoor Track Season: Finished 6th out of 15 competitors in the long jump with a jump of 20-00.25 and finished and 3rd out of 12 competitors in the triple jump (40-06.75) at the State of Maine Championships…Finished 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles (16.85) and 3rd in the 100 meter dash (12.02) at the Bates Invitational.
2005-2006:
Indoor Track Season: Won the Bates Pentathlon on December 3rd (3,243 pts), a personal best; qualified for New England Division IIIs and ECACs…At the Coast Guard Tri-meet on January 14th, achieved personal bests in the high jump (5-11.5) and shot put (39-1.25), placing 2nd in both; also achieved a season personal record in the pole vault (3.2 m)…At the Tufts Invitational on January 21st, placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash (53.08), a season personal record
Outdoor Track Season: At the Bates Invitational on April 15th, achieved season personal record in the shot put (11.78 m)…Competed in the decathlon at New England Division III Championships on May 6th (5857), as well as the 100 meter dash (11.98), the 400 meter dash (53.24), the 1,500 meter dash (4:46.84), the 110 meter hurdles (17.05), the high jump (1.9 m), the pole vault (3.3 m), the long jump (5.6 m), the discus throw (3.26 m), and the javelin throw (47.74 m)…At ECACs, placed 2nd in the decathlon (6010 pts), meeting the provisional qualification standard for NCAA Division III Championships
