Other honored publications include Martha Stewart Living, Business Week and Shape. This is considered the Emmy or Oscar of the magazine industry, and a wonderful honor for our magazine, which is less than two years old! I also really enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones at Reunion in June.”… Navy lieutentant John Cummings has returned to San Diego after completing a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean and Persian Gulf with Fighter Squadron 24 (VF-24) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. Aircraft from VF-24 flew nearly one thousand missions to enforce the international no-fly zone over southern Iraq. In all, aircraft from John’s squadron flew nearly 1,900 hours and completed 1,050 arrested landings aboard the carrier…. J.P. Fingado announces his engagement to Julie Adams. A June 1997 wedding is planned. J.P. works for a medical software company where he leads the investigation of new hardware and software technologies…. Amy Koch Oman received a master’s degree from Columbia Univ. in May…. Joanna Michel Mauz is a therapist for children and families at a community mental health agency in Chicago. Husband Bill is a Ph.D. degree candidate in child psychology at DePaul Univ….. Christy Porter received her master’s degree at the Univ. of New Hampshire last May. She is a Ph.D. degree candidate in physiological psychology. We reported erroneously in the winter 1995 issue that her degree was in atmospheric science…. In 1993, Patricia Ringers received her M.H.S. degree in population dynamics from Johns Hopkins Univ. She is now a Ph.D. degree candidate in anthropology. He was also elected to the Order of Barristers for excellence in and service to lawyering skills competitions…. At the Univ. of New Hampshire, Everett Evans is a graduate student whose research has been recognized as the best student project in comparative endocrinology at a meeting of American Society of Zoologists in May. He is working with a UNH professor to find a way to sterilize sea lampreys, eel-like vertebrates that are not native to the Great Lakes and that destroy fish there…. Jeff Kew was married to Kathy Sharpless in November 1995. He is working as a programmer/producer of children’s multimedia CD-ROMs at FUNNYBONE Interactive in Farmington, Conn…. In St. Louis, Mo., Jill Lemon is education assistant at the Center for Contemporary Arts. She earned her master’s degree in art history from the Univ. of Chicago…. Ashley deWaal Lucas teaches history in Miami, Fla., while husband Kees DeWaal completes his Ph.D. degree in philosophy at the Univ. of Miami. He was a short-order cook at the Brotherhood Restaurant on Nantucket in the fall, and last summer was a naturalist/environmental educator at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, several hours north of Toronto, Canada…. Since graduation, D. Randy West Jr. has completed Navy officer candidate school. He earned a commission as an ensign and finished training in his first Naval aircraft. Now living in Pensacola, Fla., he is learning to fly helicopters.
