Next Reunion in 2002. Got news? Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu! In August 2000, Amy Bass took a partial leave from her position as professor of history at Plattsburgh (N.Y.) State Univ. to spend two months in Sydney, Australia, where she worked for NBC Sports at the Olympic Games and as she had done in 1996 in Atlanta. One of her co-workers in Sydney was Evan Silverman ’93. Together they saw Michael Johnson’s gold medal run, the U.S. women’s basketball team’s gold medal game, and the closing ceremony… Gillian Kahn teaches computer applications and TV broadcasting at Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester, Mass…. Brad Peacock is one of three organizers of BuzzSponge, “a network of experienced account planners, creative facilitators, market scientists, and marketing strategists (‘spongeheads’) offering turnkey strategic solutions for advertising agencies, communications firms, and marketing departments.” Brad brings to the firm experience in consumer strategies and brand-building initiatives for companies such as ExxonUSA, Samsung, and Quest Communications. As a strategic planner at McCann Erickson, he assisted companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Chase, Smith Barney, Taster’s Choice among others. The trio have grown their “hive,” building a national network of experienced creative thinkers from leading market companies and Fortune 500 firms…. Chris VerPlanck is the architectural historian/preservationist at Page & Turnbull Inc., a historic preservation architectural firm in San Francisco…. Larissa Vigue earned her master’s in English literature from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English. She is a freelance writer living in Shelburne, Vt.
