Glow a go-go

First-year students Shawna-Kaye Lester and Gregory Henkes find the right level of intensity on the black-lit dance floor during “Glow.” A Bates organization addressing issues of people of black heritage, Amandla! organized the dance at the Benjamin Mays Center as one of three fall events to raise funds for Sudanese refugees and for residents of the Caribbean islands devastated by recent hurricanes. Proceeds from “Glow,” a faculty/staff vs. student basketball game, and a “Cultural Extravaganza” went directly to the International Red Cross Emergency Relief Fund and Doctors Without Borders.
