The Mount David Society recognizes Bates Fund donors who put the College first in their annual philanthropy. These individuals lead the way in supporting Bates by making significant, unrestricted current-use gifts each year — gifts that underpin the College’s ability to sustain excellence.

In fiscal year 2007, Mount David Society members contributed over $3 million, or 72% of the gifts to the Bates Fund for the year.  This extraordinary show of leadership support exceeded all expectations for this program in its first year, and the College is especially grateful to the charter members of the Mount David Society.

The Mount David Society shares a spirit of leadership and excellence with the annual Mount David Summit, Bates’ annual celebration of student academic achievement. Society and Summit alike honor the bedrock principle of Bates’ founding: Amore ac Studio  — Ardor and Devotion, to excellence and to Bates.

Whether you are new to annual giving or increasing your annual Bates Fund donation, your gift of $1,855 or more brings you into a community of like-minded donors. How to Give

Bates accepts gifts via personal check, credit card, or the transfer of securities. Check and credit card gifts may be made mailed to: Mount David Society, The Bates Fund, 2 Andrews Road, Lewiston, ME 04210. Credit card gifts may be made over the phone by calling Bates toll-free at 888-522-8371 or online. To give securities, please call the Office of Advancement Services at 207-786-6332 for transfer information.

A convenient way to make regular monthly gifts is to join the Monthly Giving  Program. Your gift is posted to your credit card or checking account, so you do not receive any further solitications, saving the College money and sparing you unnecessary mail.

To join the Monthly Giving program, call us toll-free at 888-522-8371. Credit-card monthly gifts can be activated immediately. Your gift will be posted to your Visa or MasterCard statement on the 15th of every month.
